OUR LABORATORY

We are not just a clinic for infertility treatment, we are also a modern and excellently equipped laboratory of reproductive genetics.

WHEN AND WHY WAS REPROMEDALab ESTABLISHED?

The beginnings of the laboratory date back to 2001. At that time the genetic testing was performed mainly by external staff under the leadership of Professor Jiří Rubeš on the premises of the Veterinary Research Institute in Brno. The laboratory quickly adapted to the rapid expansion of reproductive genetics by increasing the number of staff and the methods offered.

Genetic laboratory REPROMEDALab is a part of the REPROMEDA Center for Assisted Reproduction located in Brno, which was founded by IVF specialists Kateřina and Jan Veselý.

From the beginning, the aim of the laboratory was to apply the latest knowledge in genetics and to further develop molecular biology methods and thus be of benefit to patients and clients. The laboratory is built on the knowledge and erudition of the specialists working in it and its main advantages are expertise, teamwork and the ability to implement innovations with immediate effect.

The arising laboratory became independent of the Veterinary Research Institute in 2010 and finally formed the Repromeda Laboratory of Medical and Reproductive Genetics. Shortly afterwards, the newly established laboratory became one of the medical laboratories accredited according to ČSN EN ISO 15189.

In 2016 both the IVF centre and the laboratory moved to the premises of the Biology Park building in Brno Bohunice, where it continues its top work in the field of genetic testing. In addition to standard cytogenetics, modern technologies such as NGS or Karyomapping are carried out. The laboratory is becoming an increasingly independent entity. The number of collaborating partners is still growing and up to date, the laboratory collaborates with a number of other assisted reproduction clinics and genetic laboratories around the world.

OUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS

In 2001, which was 18 years after the birth of the first Czech “test tube” child, REPROMEDA became the first establishment in Central and Eastern Europe to conceive a pregnancy after using preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidies (PGT-A).

PGT-A using FISH

2000

We are the first in Central and Eastern Europe to successfully complete a cycle with PGT-A using the FISH method.

Repromeda is the first in the Czech Republic to launch preimplantation testing of monogenic diseases.

2003

Testing of monogenic diseases

Introducing the preimplantation translocation diagnosis

2004

As the first clinic in Central and Eastern Europe, we are introducing preimplantation translocation diagnostics using the FISH method.

We are the first to Introduce a microchip technology in Central Europe.

2010

Introduction of chip technology

Accreditation of PGT-A method

2012

We are the first clinic in the world to accredit the microchip technology for PGT-A.

Repromeda is the first clinic in Central Europe to implement the Karyomapping method for PGT of monogenic diseases.

2014

Introduction of Karyomapping method

NGS VeriSeq

2015

A new method VeriSeq NGS (Next generation sequencing) is implemented in PGT for aneuploidy and in PGT for translocations.

We have developed a new genetic and reproduction compatibility test called PANDA (Panel Diagnostic Analysis).

2017

PANDA Infertility

OneGene PGT

2020

Introducing a new OneGene PGT method for PGT-M for selected single gene diseases (mutations in CFTR, FMR1, HTT, BRCA1, BRCA2, HBB genes).

Perfecting Panda Infertility
the Panda Carrier test was created, which that tests up to 110 genes.

2021

Test PANDA Exom

2022

We have developed the most widely used version of panel diagnostic analysis called PANDA Exom.
